Where Cancer Finds its Kryptonite

Dr Hugo De La Peña, MD, PHD, FRCP, is a Consultant Medical Oncologist, Breast Cancer Specialist, CRUK Ambassador and Maggie's Clinical Lead.

TCS London Marathon

The fight against cancer for me is personal. I see first-hand how CRUK money goes from bench to clinic developing wonder drugs (which I call cancer kryptonite) that change lives. I am happy to talk the talk, but also, in this case, more than happy to run the run.

Talking the Talk and Walking the Walk

Dr Hugo De La Peña has been “talking the talk” about the best ways of curing and treating cancer for years as speaker at international conferences around the world, but he is certainly not shy about getting his hands dirty and “walk the walk” as well. Sometimes even “run the run” when required to increase awareness and gain funds for the cause.

“Cancer patients do not have the luxury of time” he says, so as a cancer specialist, “improving outcomes by bringing new and better treatments to the clinic is also a race”. He has been involved with many charities to do just that: talk the talk yes, but also walk the walk and run the run when needed.
